Express Yourself is a dynamic exhibition that explores art beyond the wall, featuring wearable works that move, shift, and tell stories through form, texture, and material. From garments and accessories to sculptural adornments, the show highlights how artists use the human body as a canvas for creativity and personal expression.
I’m excited to share that I have eight pieces from my Avant Garde Collection on display, including my Bike Tire Wrap, Bottle Cap Dress, Lilly Poncho, Oil Painting Jacket, Clockhand Necklace, Jean and Zipper Necklace, Paper Bead Necklace, and Linen Smock. If you’ve seen one of these pieces and are interested in learning more, please reach out through my contact form — I’m always happy to chat about the stories behind them!
Opening Reception Vibes
Opening night was filled with connection, conversation, and a few very special surprises. I was so excited to see one of my favorite people and longtime kayaking idol, Alison Hewett, in attendance. Back when I was a camper at Camp Manitowish, she was a legend and even co-led one of my sea kayaking trips in the Apostle Islands — having her there meant so much.
I was also joined by my good artist friend, Kipp Inglis of A Botanical Dyery, who helped navigate the evening and made the experience even more enjoyable. Throughout the night, I had the chance to meet so many wonderful volunteers, community members, and members of the leadership team, including Board President Jim Lucas, Executive Director Stephany Hartman, and Assistant Director Heather Bailey. It was an inspiring evening all around.
The exhibition is on view through May 6 — be sure to stop in and experience these expressive, wearable works in person.
