An Exploration of Wearable Art
I'm excited to be the featured artist at the Art Alliance of Greater Lake Mills Monthly Member Meeting! Join me in the back room of The Grist for a presentation exploring my creative journey through wearable art, from my early experiments with unconventional materials to building my small business, SJWHandmade.
Throughout the evening, I'll share stories about my Avant Garde Collection, including the creative challenges of constructing garments from materials like paper, bicycle tires, and other unexpected objects. I'll also discuss how those early experiences influenced my current work creating Upcycled Wool Wearables from repurposed sweaters and textiles. A selection of pieces from both collections will be on display, giving attendees an opportunity to see the materials, construction, and craftsmanship up close.
Artwork Available for Purchase
I'll have a selection of my Upcycled Wool Wearables available for purchase, including handmade scarves, mittens, and other one-of-a-kind accessories. Please note that my Avant Garde Collection will be on display for viewing only. Cash and credit/debit cards are the preferred payment methods.
Support the Art Alliance of Greater Lake Mills
The Art Alliance of Greater Lake Mills is growing thanks to the dedication of local artists and volunteers, including my good friend Rick Santovec, who serves as Secretary and helps organize these monthly member meetings.
As a nonprofit organization, the Art Alliance relies on community support and membership to sustain its educational programming, artist opportunities, and events. Everyone is welcome to attend, and I encourage you to consider becoming a member to help support and strengthen the arts community throughout the Greater Lake Mills area.
I hope you'll join us for an evening of art, conversation, and a little creative inspiration!
